Most people don’t think about the Mayan calendar except in reference to 2012. You see, the Mayan Calendar comes to an end. Is that a big deal? Maybe. This calendar system dates back thousands of years. Predictions made through the Mayan calendar have gained attention. The answer still stands: where is our world heading, and is the ending of the Mayan calendar truly a sign of the end of our world?

No one can answer that question with definitive proof. Would we want that? No, of course not! If we’re going to place more weight in pre-destiny instead of “me-destiny” then what is the point of having consciousness, desire, passion, ideas, or cause and effect? We’re here to live each moment, learn, and make life reflect our beliefs.

So then, after all those words, why do I talk about the Mayan calendar? There’s many reasons I appreciate and use this calendar, and take the time to write about it every single day. It’s all about seeing how powerful we really are. Me-Destiny.

We spend a good portion of our lives as a learner. Years are spent in educating us, but it does not stop there. I don’t think a day goes by that does not include a realization, insight, or transformation into wisdom. Darn good thing! Those Ah-ha moments are like a breath of fresh air, awakening us yet again.

Now take that last paragraph and overlay it over the Mayan Tzolkin calendar. Every day we have a new combination that unlocks the doorway to one of the many attributes we possess. One day we talk about relationships, and find that its not just connecting with others, its connecting to ourselves. Another day we talk about letting go of the struggle, and having the faith that you will retain what is important. Every day we get another morsel of wisdom, just enough of a focus to nourish us spiritually, and still leave us plenty of time to interact and build our world.

Does the world end in 2012? That’s not what’s important. The world ends and begins every day, and right now is the only place we can live. Our destiny is not preordained outside of our own being. We are me-destined, and every day we have endless opportunities to make an impression in our own lives. What will come in 2012? Isn’t it time we set our own course? Our predictions are intended to always come true, let’s set our direction toward building the world that we want to live in.
