Building a Group Drum – Make it a Party!
It’s only two weeks away, the drum making party in Winlock, Washington. This is my drum, a 30″ wide pow-wow or group drum. The hides were selected and cut while we were preparing for the March 2009 Healing Drum Retreat, which by the way was a fantastic event!
Our party will combine social time, information about the Healing Drum Retreat June 19-21, 2009, and of course drum making. While not everyone can participate in building this drum, we will let you know that the energy will be strong and creative, and it will be a great event to attend.
This event is open to both prior attendee’s at the Healing Drum Retreat and those who would like information about this event. We request RSVP’s so we know who is coming, and we ask that you order something from the great menu at our hosting restaurant, the Ez Come Ez Go pizza restaurant. The cost for this event? We’ll leave it to you, this is a donation event toward the Healing Drum Retreat Scholarship Fund.
How to get there: From I-5 travel westbound at exit 60, (turning left if you are coming from Portland, or right if you are southbound from Olympia or Chehalis). Follow about 5 miles, watching the speed limit as the road curves down into Winlock. Pass the IGA, and turn right onto 1st Street, at the flashing light. The restaurant is on the right about 1/2 block.

We will also have pre-cut hides that you can reserve for the drum making class at the Healing Drum Retreat June 19th. Many of these rounds are amazing, with buffalo and horse hides available.
You can also meet the 9-sided buffalo drum, an amazing shamanic drum.
